Who
We Are & What We Do
Westat, an employee-owned research company, works with the United
States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to improve the quality
of our environment. We do this by recruiting
volunteers to participate in EPA
studies conducted at the Agency's Human Studies Facility located
on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The focus of this research is to discover how humans respond to
pollution. By understanding exactly how commonly-occurring pollutants
affect various people,
the EPA can make appropriate recommendations to Congress and other
State and Local governments about enacting laws that protect us
and our environment.
Making the environment safe for all of us is what the EPA does.
