Safety
First, Last & Always !
Everyone
involved in the research conducted at the Human Studies Facility
puts safety first, last, and always. One of the main duties of
the Westat EPA Recruiting Office is preliminary screening of volunteers
to make sure no-one is at undue risk to participate in research.
In addition:
- Each study has eligibility rules,
many of which relate to your safety.
- In all phases of the process from
initial screening to study participation, we provide a detailed
written description of what the screening, physical exam,
or study involves (an informed consent). We ask that you read
it, ask as many questions as you like, and sign it to confirm
that you understand before participation.
- All research protocols are reviewed
by the UNC School of Medicine Committee on the Protection
of the Rights of Human Subjects.
