Volunteer
for a Study
How
Can You Help the EPA Protect the Environment?
You can volunteer to participate in an EPA study. Benefits include
a free physical exam and personal information about how aspects
of the environment affect you. You can refer other people who
may want to participate in a study. You will be paid for your
time as a volunteer and for referring others who qualify to participate.
Who can
volunteer?
We are currently recruiting most volunteers from the area immediately
surrounding Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh, North Carolina. However,
special populations - such as elders, people with asthma or chronic
lung disease - are sometimes recruited from greater distances.
What should I do to volunteer?
Contact the Westat EPA Recruiting Office.
Then What?
First, we will ask you some questions over the telephone about
your general health. In most cases we will ask you to come
to the Recruitment Office to complete an extensive medical
history form. The appointment will take about 1 hour. For some
studies, other special testing may be needed.
Next, you will be scheduled for a free physical examination at
the EPA Medical Station.
You will be paid for your time completing the office screen and
taking the physical exam.
And Then?
About a week after your physical exam we will call you to tell
you about the studies that are available. You can choose any of
the studies offered or none.
